Platform: Term Limits – SHUT THE DOOR
Each individual State needs representation. Yet, the longer an individual serves in Washington D.C., it is as if they are representing the federal government. The Federal government does not need representation. Working for the federal government should not be a tenured position.
If we the people want to see change, then some limitations eventually need to be made. Isn’t it possible that policy is being compromised?
A president can be re-elected twice to the presidency. It only makes sense to limit the power of individuals in the US Congress. Working for the federal government should not be a tenured position.
Nancy Pelosi has served well in the US Congress for over 31 years. That means that she has been re-elected to office over 16 times. If someone has been serving in the Congress for over 31 years at the Federal level, I may not like that: I’m from Oregon. If we want people to represent limited government, then limitations of government employees seems fiscally responsible.
Individuals working for Congress should be given no more than 12 years in our Capitol. Yes, each individual state should have their say on how their representatives may serve in Washington D.C. But there need to be limits to their overall individual service.
The salary for each individual in the Senate and the House of representatives should be the right and responsibilities of the states in which they serve. The salary should reflect the state in which each senator and HR serves, not a blanketed amount of money given by the federal government to an individual that is serving. As a Senator and member of the HR, the states should decide how much their representatives are compensated for their service.
